Libertad o Muerte! is set in the tumultuous era of Latin America's wars of independence, where you'll take on the role of either the Patriots fighting for freedom or the Royalists seeking to maintain colonial rule. The game unfolds over a sprawling map of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, with hundreds of land and naval units representing historical leaders and forces. Each turn represents six months in real-time, during which you'll manage military resources, armies, and fleets, while also responding to or triggering events that can significantly impact your campaign.
The gameplay loop is where Libertad o Muerte! truly shines. You'll receive two decks of cards, one for each player, which represent historical events, as well as various types of assets and tricks (economies, combat, new troops, fate, etc.).
