In a world where humans have vanished, leaving behind only ruins and a desolate wasteland, it's up to you to guide one of two beaver factions - the nature-friendly Folktails or the industrious Iron Teeth. Your goal is to build and sustain a thriving beaver settlement in this new environment. The journey begins with wet and dry seasons, where you must prepare for recurring droughts by stockpiling food, maintaining fields and forests, and relying on both natural water sources and artificial irrigation to keep the land arable.
As your colony grows, so does the complexity of managing resources, building structures, and directing the activities of your beaver inhabitants. You'll construct dams, floodgates, and canals using explosives to redirect rivers and bring life back to the wasteland. Lumberpunk innovations allow you to turn timber into sophisticated machinery, from water wheels and sawmills to engines and shredders.
What makes Timberborn stand out is its emphasis on vertical architecture, where space is limited, and you must stack lodges and workshops on top of each other, construct platforms and bridges, and set up a power grid for your growing population. The game's day-night cycle brings an extra layer of realism, with individually simulated inhabitants going about their daily routines and celebrating when the next generation is born.
